Inks Lake Nov 15-16, 2014

Louis and Ian were the activity co-chairs for this trip.

The weather reports were bleak but you cannot always depend on those reports. We decided to proceed knowing it might be chilly but that there was a good chance we would be far enough north to get out from under the rain falling on San Antonio.

We were right. It was a bit cold and overcast but we had almost no rain, just a little mist. After setting up camp we decided to spend the bulk of the afternoon on Saturday in Longhorn Cavern State Park (just 6 miles from Inks Lake State Park) so we would be protected from the weather (unless there was so much rain it flooded the cavern!)

Then it was back to Inks Lake for lunch and then to a demonstration on Dutch oven cooking by the park Rangers.

Back to camp again for dinner and campfire. Louis had planned out the meals for this trip as he is earning the Cooking Merit Badge. For dinner we had kabobs and salad and for desert we had banana boat, which was a very tasty pleasant surprise. The dinner was a big hit!

The four brave souls who spent the night sure were bright and chipper the next morning, can't you see the joy on their faces!
