Sophia debriefed the crew on the hike last weekend and announced the next hike which will be Oct 3 at Friedrich Wilderness Park; more details to follow.
Mr. Marshall gave a presentation on advancement and has posted the PowerPoint to our FB page. NOTE all crew members should be using their Venturing Handbook to record their participation in crew activities and service projects and to tract your advancement. Have Dr. JT or one of the associate advisors sign off on your requirement as you accomplish them. When you meet with Dr. JT for your Advisor’s Conference the first thing he will ask to see is your book.
Induction Ceremony: Katie, Jade (who started the night as a guest but finished as a Venturer) and Ms. Child all were inducted into Crew 285 tonight. Welcome and congratulations!
Tonight’s activity: Aggies vs Longhorns: The Aggies swept the series, soundly crushing the Longhorns winning 3 straight in the best of 5 series. WHHOOOOOP!
To the victors go the spoils: The Aggies got cupcakes (thanks to Sofia) as a reward for their masterful ball passing and receiving. But I saw some of the defeated Longhorns sneak uneaten cupcakes. And there were Capri Suns to rehydrate both teams, thanks to Alyssa and Mr. Lynch.
Upcoming events:
September 22: Crew Meeting. The agenda will include a gear talk from Mr. Lynch on boots and backpacks.
Philmont 2016 Prep hike #2: Oct 3rd meet at Friedrich Wilderness Park at 0800. 5 mile hike. Wear your boots and backpack for this one. Water is a must, and you might want to put 20 pounds of gear in your pack.
October 10: GRSP clean-up service project
October 24 VOA open house at McGimsey, Crew 285 will have a table and try to recruit new members.
October 25: Haunted Trail at GRSP, the most fun service project of the year.
November 14: Overnight camping trip at Pedernales Falls State Park. Quincy is the Activity Chair for this camping trip
